BABY JOE MESI vs. TERRY SMITH - CANCELED

UDPATE: Mesi's fight scheduled for April 4th is cancelled. Baby Joe Mesi injured his shoulder while training and had to pull out of the fight. Doctors instructed Mesi to rest his shoulder for the next 3 or 4 weeks. Prior to resuming training, Mesi's shoulder will be re-evaluated.

EARLIER: Mesi looks for his 37th win as he faces Terry Smith at the Twin Rivers Casino, Rhode Island.

The event is scheduled to be televised live on “ESPN Friday Night Fights."

Two minutes 51 seconds into the first round, Mesi (36-0, 29KOs) finished off Shannon Miller (15-4) to win the USNBC title Friday night in front of a sell-out crowd at Twin River Events Center.

Mesi came out strong in the first round, knocking down Miller midway through before dropping him for good with a right hook along the ropes.

Mesi dedicated the fight to injured Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett and sported Everett's home jersey as he stepped into the ring for his debut with his new promoter, CES president Jimmy Burchfield.
